Yesterday, on September 8, the first round table conference Without Fear To Insurance, dedicated to topical issues of individual and corporate insurance in Ukraine was held in UNIAN press agency. TAS Insurance Group was the initiator of the round table.

Chief executives of TAS Insurance Group - Dmytro Grytsuta, (Chairman of the Board), Maksym Gapchuk (Deputy Chairman of the Board), Artur Shaimukhametov (First Deputy Chairman of the Board), Oleksandr Tymoshenko (Deputy Chairman of the Board), Natalia Tymofeyenko (Deputy Chairman of the Board), and independent experts – Iryna Demchenko, Chief Legal Counsel of Liga Prava company, Tetiana Semenova, Director of Millennium Investments company, as well as representatives of field insurance organizations – Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine and Nuclear Insurance Pool of Ukraine – took part in the round table.

The main topic for discussion within the framework of the round table touched upon the problem of collapse of confidence of insurance services consumers to insurance companies and the insurance segment as a whole.

Dmytro Grytsuta, Chairman of the Board of TAS Insurance Group CJSC: «Currently mistrust of insurance services consumers to insurance companies and the insurance segment in whole is obvious. Apart from general crisis trends in the financial services market this mistrust is also caused by insured persons’ lack of knowledge about the insurance system in Ukraine. We are convinced that providing consumers with high-quality and truthful information on insurance opportunities and risks, we will be able to overcome such mistrust and to encourage citizens for voluntary insurance».

Lack of the relevant knowledge and financial competence as one of the reasons of consumers’ mistrust towards insurance services was also highlighted by Tetiana Semenova, financial adviser, Director of Millennium Investments company.

The experts discussed the legal aspects of relations between an insured and an insurance company; matters of state regulation of Ukrainian insurance market; legislative initiatives of field organizations with respect to the insurance market regulation; the role and meaning of insurance for social security of citizens.

According to Artur Shaimukhametov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of TAS IG for corporate sales: «The corporate segment is currently facing a number of challenges. Where before major companies insured their employees and corporate property on a compulsory basis, now corporate insurance is often limited to insurance of car fleets. In view of the social function and significance of corporate insurance, such economy may entail great reduction of living standards and social security of citizens».

Natalia Tymofeyenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board OF TAS IG for retail services noted that «One of the factors, triggering the growing distrust of clients to insurance companies is existence of so-called “day-fly companies”. In their strive for quick gains these companies deceive the clients “guaranteeing” 100% of insurance indemnities, thereby dumping the prices, and eventually disappearing. Consequently, clients remain deceived and lose trust to insurance companies generally.

Without Fear To Insurance is a series of round table conferences held on the initiative of TAS Insurance Group in Ukraine’s largest cities – Kyiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Lviv. Chief executives of TAS IG, lawyers, independent experts and journalists will attend the round tables. The round tables are open for attendance. The principle task of this initiative is to explode the existing myths and prejudices about insurance, by providing high-quality and reliable information on the peculiarities of Ukrainian insurance market.
