TAS IG improving travel insurance programs for people traveling in the US, Canada, Japan and Australia
In January 2010, Private joint-stock company TAS Insurance Group (TAS IG (private)) introduced a new package of documents for voluntary medical and related expenses insurance to travelers in the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia. That was made with a purpose of improving the voluntary medical and related expenses insurance for travelers abroad and enhancing quality of the corresponding insurance product. Artur Shaimukhametov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board at TAS IG (private) said: “Our company keeps on developing insurance products for people traveling abroad and consistently works over improving services for our customers. We provide coverage of healthcare and related expenses for residents traveling in such remote countries as the US, Canada, Japan and Australia, wherein the cost of medical services is higher as compared with other countries, which has an impact on the price of an insurance policy. E.g., in 2009, we paid over 40,000 Euros under one insured event to a woman who required medical assistance while staying in the United States. New features of the existing insurance program not only include the increasing of insurer’s liability, but also of an insured. In particular, the mandatory requirement now is health underwriting of a customer with a purpose of granting him a high quality and seasonable aid. Such provisions are stipulated in similar insurance contracts in many countries all over the world.” The updated insurance program provides reimbursement of expenses for treatment and diagnostic services, particularly, for providing medical aid to an insured within the limit of an sum insured specified in a contract. Viktoriya Raspopova, Head of Travel Division of Medical and Personal Insurance Department at TAS IG (private) says: “This program provides for the reimbursement of expenditures up to 50,000 Euros, including expenses for extended care in medical facilities (up to 10,000 Euros), outpatient care at hospital or by a professional doctor (up to 5,000 Euros), emergency dental care, and reimbursement of expenses for the insured’s transportation to the nearest medical facility, doctor, a specialized healthcare facility or a specific place at the country of residence if required on medical indications or upon availability of a medical opinion. We also cover expenses for transportation of a medical worker who might accompany the insured up to 10,000 Euros, and expenses for the repatriation of the insured’s body to a specific place at the country of residence, or for the burial up to 20,000 Euros. Besides, the new program provides for the recovery of expenses for communications services with a healthcare management organization or the insurer in case of a sudden disease or accident.” |
